They’re all a-Twitter
If you’ve visited Twitter’s home page lately, you’ve probably noticed the announcement about a new Twitter on the way, or you may have heard about it on radio or TV. As you can see on this page, what you’ll find on the new Twitter is a different layout. The familiar column on right side with follower/following info, trending topics, and hashtags is expanding to approximately the same width as the column with your tweets. Clicking on a tweet opens a window over the right column displaying the profile and recent tweets of the tweeter or any photos or videos embedded within the tweet. Here’s what this means for your social media strategy.
- Users can now view tweet content right on Twitter, which may result in reduced traffic to your site.
- It will be easier for users to view your photos and videos, so you’ll want to include more of this content to compensate for reduced site traffic.
- Having frequently updated content and new tweets is all the more important because it will be easier for users to view your tweet history and judge your authority.
