Without a doubt, social media has to be one of the most useful inventions in recent years. If you are trying to market your business and reach a wider audience, then the Internet is one of the best ways to do it.
Social media allows you to create meaningful connections with your audience, your customers, and your followers. But you also need to keep your data safe. Don’t share the password for your personal page with anyone. Only give out the password for your company’s verified business account to trusted partners who want to help your business grow. Avoid the temptation to use the “always logged in” feature, and be sure to use two-factor authentication so you can verify your identity whenever you do log in on another device.
Don’t use the same password for your Twitter account that you do for your other social media accounts. This is another temptation that is easy to fall victim to. Ignore private messages that seem fishy, especially when you are using your company’s official Twitter account.
As with Facebook and Twitter, don’t recycle the same password. Think of something different, or at least try a variation on your standard password that isn’t too obviously similar. Phishing is very common in the world of social media, so you need to watch out for that on LinkedIn as well.
If your company creates high-quality images and uses them to draw in new business, then Instagram is a good fit for you. You can also easily share inspiring videos of what your business has done for your community lately. Use two-factor authentication on your business profile. Make your personal profile private, and don’t share important data on your public profile that you don’t need to share. Change your password every six months, and keep a list of the ones you’ve used and the ones you plan on using so you can keep track of the changes. Just be sure to keep this private list well-protected as well.
