Facebook Tweaks News Feed, Prioritizes New Content
Are you tired of logging into Facebook only to see the same posts over and over again? Turns out Facebook was too. That’s why the social media site has revamped its newsfeed to prioritize fresh new posts. This is not only great for the everyday Facebook user, but it is also big news for businesses, who are trying to market their products and services to their fans.
Facebook Tweaks News Feed, Prioritizes New Content
“Our goal with News Feed is to show everyone the right content at the right time so they don’t miss the stories that are important to them,” said Erich Owens and David Vickrey, Facebook software engineers. “Our latest update to News Feed ranking looks at two new factors to determine if a story is more important in the moment than other types of updates.”
- What’s Trending? Facebook will give priority to posts that tie in with its “Trending” list. Owens and Vickrey said such posts have seen a 6% jump in engagement since the tweaks were made.
- Engagement Rate: The more likes a post has, and the rate at which a post receives likes will both factor into its placement on the News Feed.
