Maryland Crab Cakes Expected to be in High Demand for December 2010

“We’re looking forward to another busy December and expect 2010 orders to surpass those of 2009,” says Tom Kanaras, co-owner of Boxhill Crab Cakes,  “We shipped over 2,500 crab cakes in December 2009 and expect that over 3,000 crab cakes will be shipped this December. It seems like people just can’t get enough of our Maryland crab cakes,” continues Mr. Kanaras.

The Boxhill Crabcakes, made from a secret family recipe, have grown in popularity for 25 years.  Baltimore Magazine voted Boxhill as “Maryland’s Best Crab Cakes”. Year after year, Boxhill Crabcakes have also been voted as Harford County’s “Best Crab Cake”.

Are e-mail’s days limited?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Last week, Facebook unveiled a new messaging service amid predictions that it will replace e-mail. Surprisingly, Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, denied this saying the new interface that will blend e-mails, instant messages (IMs), and simple message services (SMSs) will not be an “e-mail killer.”

A further look at Zuckerberg’s comments, reported in this article, suggest an ulterior motive for making such a pronouncement. He pointed out that many younger users no longer use e-mail because it’s so slow and formal and favor more conversational, instant messaging. So he may not want this service thought of as an e-mail replacement because of e-mail’s declining popularity.

In any event, Facebook’s new service will most likely be a force to be reckoned with. It is designed to compete with Yahoo’s Hotmail and Google’s Gmail services, and will probably either threaten or push those services. Place your business on Google

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

As this article states, one in five Google searches focuses on a business with a specific location.  This more than anything else highlights the value of a Google Places listing.  These accounts bring local customers right to the businesses’ doorsteps by allowing the businesses to show up in searches for specific lines of business, provide maps to their locations, and provide photos and other pertinent info that customers need to know.  In addition, there are functions that allow satisfied customers to leave reviews for others to see.  Here are some additional benefits to Google Places.

Analytics
Google Places will show you what searches bring users to your page, so you can refine and specify better keywords.  It can also use the driving directions users retrieve to pinpoint what geographic areas your customers are coming from.

Rewards
Google Places allows businesses to post coupons and deals online to further entice customers.  It also can assign a scannable barcode for each companies allowing customers to quickly scan and transfer information to their smart phones.  This feature will also help increase the use of electronic coupons.

SMO overtaking SEO

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

It’s nothing new to say the search engine optimization (SEO) is changing. Its constant change is a fact of life. A recent development, as this article explains, is the importance of social media optimization (SMO). It’s a development that companies need to understand when developing their content.

SEO was valuable when it was difficult finding pages on different topics. It focused on maximizing the usage of keywords that search engines can find and deliver to users. However, most topics now have a wealth of pages available that are chock full of keywords.

SMO includes the keywords but focuses on delivering useful content that readers find helpful and share with others through social media utilities. Its goal is to go beyond getting better page rankings and convincing readers that the content is worth liking on Facebook, retweeting on Twitter, bookmarking on Delicious, or digging on Digg.

If you want to learn more about this topic or any online topic, contact us. We can help guide you through the constantly developing world of the Web and provide you with quality SEO and SMO.
